| Summary: | Mandate to the prior of Monk Bretton (Monkebretton), within three days of receipt, to provide Brother William Basset, his fellow monk, who has been recently accused of sowing discord within the house, sinning in the flesh and other serious offences and, though he had been submitted to purgation by the archbishop's commissioners, could not purge himself, with five marks annually to cover his expulsion to the convent of Whitby, in order to try and mitigate anger and rancour within the house; with order to certify his actions herein, should he need to compel William with ecclesiastical censures. |
