Summary: Mandate to the official principal to call the clergy of the diocese and province to a general council to be held in York Minster, starting on 4 May 1324, to consider the maintenance of former Templars, by apostolic authority. With similar mandates to the dean and chapter of York Minster; the bishop of Durham; the bishop of Carlisle, and to T. bishop of Whithorn (Thomas of Kirkcudbright (d. 1319), therefore ?recte Simon of Wedale, elected 1321), with the provision that if he had been excommunicated for supporting Robert I, king of Scots (Robert the Bruce), the mandate was not to be a personal message from the archbishop, but a means of preserving the rights of the church of York. With a similar mandate to that sent out to the dean and chapter of York, etc., to the prior of Hexham (6 documents).
