Summary: Royal writ ordering the archbishop to ensure that Hugh de Gaytford [Gateforth], clerk, appears before the justices at Westminster at the octave of Trinity, to answer John de Merkyngfeld [Markenfield], Master John Fraunceys, John de la Roche, Martin de Grymeston [Grimston], chaplain, and Robert Mek, executors of the will of William de Hamelton [Hamilton], on a plea of debt of 16 marks. The sheriff informed the justices that Hugh is a clerk, and has no lay fee by which he could be summoned. Witnessed by Ralph de Hengham. Response noting that this was done.
