Summary: Memorandum of a letter to the official of the archdeacon of Nottingham to make inquiries in the deanery of Retford into the life and morals of John de Lachton in Morthing [Laughton en le Morthen] and Edward de Ebor [York], criminous clerks, charged in the secular court two years previously with robbery at Apleyhead (Appeleyheved) and freed into the archbishop's custody; with similar letters to the dean of Doncaster to inquire about John, and to the dean of Christianity of York to inquire about Edward registered in the quaternion in the section for Bailiffs [de ballivis] in the time of John [le Romeyn], archbishop of York, so as to proceed to take their purgation.
