[Gilbert de Welton] bishop of Carlisle and all ministers and clergy of the city, diocese and province of York cited to convene for the provincial council of York on 3 June next in the absence of Archbishop Thoresby, in order to discuss arduous and urgent business touching upon the state and liberties of the English church and clergy as well as upon the defence of the realm, of the commission to Master Thomas de Nevel [Neville], Master William de la Mare, canons of York Minster, Master Thomas de Bukton [Bucton], canon of Wells, official of the court of York, and Master Adam de Twysilton [Twistleton], commissaries to convoke the meeting and expedite all business on the archbishop's behalf. |
