Marginalia:
An insertion in the text is indicated by a manicule at the point of insertion and a smaller manicule at the foot of this side of the folio where the text of the insertion appears. The manicules are elaborate; not just pointing fingers, but part of the arm as well, in a tight-fitting buttoned sleeve under a looser one.
