| Summary: | Mandate to the prioress and convent of St Clement by York [Clementhorpe Priory] to receive Isabella de Stodlay [Studley], nun of the house, back into the community and treat her as their sister, she having previously been sent to the priory of Yedingham in order to undergo penance for sins of the flesh and apostasy but having expressed a wish to return with a penitent heart, with a reassurance from the archbishop that should the prioress find her contumacious, rebellious or violent, prone to anger or hostile with her fellow nuns, or indulging in the crime of blasphemy, she will be transferred to another house and awarded a commensurate penance. |
