| Summary: | Notarial instrument containing the proposal (propositio) of John Fraunceys [Francis], proctor of Walter de Bedewynd [Bedwyn], treasurer of York, to Master Robert de Pykering [Pickering], canon of York, vicar general, concerning the vill of Newthorpe (Neuthorp), a portion belonging to the office of treasurer, claimed by Sir Gerard de Salvayn, knight, by a royal grant to his son, George, and appeal against the appointment of the prior of York, Holy Trinity, and Master Michael de Harclay, to try the cause, who, with Master Robert, were stated to be too close to the Salvayns, and in the case of Master Michael, an enemy of Bedewynd. |
