Summary: Mandate to the dean of Newark and John Levenyng [Leavening], chaplain, to inquire, pursuant to the complaint of H. [Hugh] de Appelby [Appleby], rector of Weston (Weston in the Clay), into the seizure and detention of divers sums of money and other goods and chattels bequeathed to the fabric of his church during the time of the pestilence, so that the last wills of testators cannot be carried out, for which they should be excommunicated in the synod of York if true, and to issue a monition that all such goods should be restored to the rector within ten days, and to issue a citation to appear in York Minster to receive justice; with further order to certify their findings and actions by letters patent.
