| Summary: | Ordinance for Master John de Crakall [Crakehall], doctor of decrees, keeper of the hospital of St Mary Magdalene, Ripon, following an inquisition, to find a greater number of priests to support the charges upon the hospital and increase the fruits, rents and issues thereof, he having shown that the original foundation and subsequent donations had been stretched by the endowment of a chantry of three priests, taking annually £10 for a stipend by reason of the manor of Studley Roger (Stodelay Roger), annexed to the hospital, whose fruits, rents and issues only extend to six marks a year, not permitting it to support the stipend, alms or other charges upon it. |
