To the archbishop of York and bishops of Ely and Carlisle, a mandate, at the request of Edward II, to prevent treating for peace with the Scots without licence from the king, to be enforced by excommunication and interdict; 2. To the archbishop of York and bishops of Ely and Carlisle, permitting them to grant absolution and dispensations to those negotiating for peace with the Scots, provided a treaty was the result. |
