| Summary: | Ratification and confirmation of a decision concerning the prebend of Riccall in York Minster. Edward II granted this to Master John Fraunceys, king's clerk, as noted in a writ concerning his installation dated at Westminster on 13 May 1309 (recited), but it was claimed that the prebend was already in the possession of Master Thomas de Chekano [Ceccano]. The archbishop appointed commissioners (named), who, by letters of 27 September 1309 (recited) found by inquisition that the collation was in the king's gift by reason of a vacancy in the see of York during the reign of Edward I, and that Chekano had no right to the prebend. |
