Summary: Mandate to the deans of Newark and Nottingham to proclaim in all churches throughout their jurisdiction the absolution granted to Richard de Boseville, the king's serjeant-at-arms, who, having recently been commissioned to arrest Thomas de Claxeby [Claxby], an apostate Gilbertine canon, and present him to the master of the order in England for correction, transgressed the terms of the commission out of his own ignorance (propria simplicitate), in that he threw violent hands upon him and dragged him from his chamber within the manse of Thomas's vicarage of Newark, the archbishop having ordained a suitable penance and granted absolution.
