| Summary: | Royal writ ordering the archbishop to distrain William de Stolkeye, rector of Melling in Lonsdale (Mellyng in Lonnesdale), by his benefice, so that he appears before the barons of the Exchequer at Westminster at the octave of Trinity, to answer Walter [Reynolds], bishop of Worcester, the treasurer, concerning a certain book of decretals worth 20 marks which he unjustly detains. The archbishop informed the barons on the morrow of the close of Easter last that the previous writ arrived too late. Witnessed by William de Carleton [Carlton]. Response noting that this was done. |
