| Summary: | Mandate to the receiver of York, all archdeacons and their officials, deans, rectors, vicars and parochial chaplains to sequester all quests throughout their jurisdictions made from Michaelmas last, and cause them to be safely kept, as many questors have made exactions by false letters and have made false promises and absolution under colour of office, explaining simply the cause for the sequestration and forbidding any further quests under pain of excommunication; with order to inquire into the names of the presumptuous, citing those they find guilty to appear before the official of York or his commissary on the next day to be assigned for this; with further order to certify their actions by their letters patent (details given). |
