Summary: Commission to Master William de Pokeligton [Pocklington], vicar of Hessle, and the vicar of Adlingfleet (Athelingflet) to examine priests, clerks and laymen, named in a schedule stated to be annexed, who had at any time served members of the order of the Knights Templar in the houses [preceptories] or manors of Faxfleet and Weedley (Wythele) in the archdeaconry of the East Riding.
Note:
For the identification of 'Wythele' as Weedley, rather than Whitley near Selby, see Jon S. Lee, 'Weedley not Whitley: Repositioning a Preceptory of the Knights Templar in Yorkshire', Yorkshire Archaeological Journal, 87 (2015), pp.101-23. The reference here to it being in the archdeaconry of the East Riding appears to prove that identification beyond question.
