| Summary: | Appropriation, with the consent of the chapter of York Minster, of the church of Askham Richard to the prioress and convent of Nun Monkton (Munketon), pursuant to the archbishop's visitation and their subsequent presentation of the grant of the tithes, fruits and issues by Pope Celestine, an inspeximus by Henry Murdac, formerly archbishop of York, of the foundation charter by William de Arches and Ivetta, his wife, of the priory with its endowment of land in Monkton (1147x1153), another similar inspeximus and confirmation by G. [Geoffrey Plantagenet], formerly archbishop of York (1191x1212) of the churches of Thorp Arch (Thorp) and Askham Richard and an endowment of the church of Kirk Hammerton (Hamerton) (details given). |
