| Summary: | Mandate to the archbishop's official of York or his commissary general, following receipt of a royal writ of King Edward II (recited), dated at Ely, 7 April 1314, for a summons to the prelates and clergy of the city, diocese and province of York to attend a convocation to discuss a subsidy for repelling the Scots under Robert de Brus [Robert Bruce] who were occupying towns and fortresses in the march between England and Scotland, and were threatening Berwick upon Tweed (Berewycum super Twedam). |
