Summary: Return by Archbishop Melton to the king's justices [of the Court of Common Pleas in Westminster] of a writ, dated 21 May 1330, and witnessed by John de Stonore, ordering him to inquire into the bastardy of John, son of William de Byngham [Bingham], who has impleaded Roger Roseles concerning an acre of land in Lotherton (Loterington) in Yorkshire but which they challenged on the grounds of his alleged bastardy, that the court found John to be the legitimate son of William and of Constance, his wife.
