| Summary: | Memorandum that on 17 October 1349, after the confirmation of his election as prior of Monk Bretton, Brother Hugh de Brerleye [Brearley] swore obedience to the archbishop; with memorandum that, according to William Basset, monk of Monk Bretton, and others of the prior's council, by virtue of custom and agreement the prior of Pontefract should install the new prior of Monk Bretton, and so the archdeacon of York or his official have not be instructed to do this (two entries). |
