| Summary: | Ordination of the chantry in the parish church of Holy Trinity, Rothwell (Rothewell), founded by John de Radeclive [Radcliffe], perpetual vicar thereof, at the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the soul of Alice de Lascy [Lacy], formerly countess of Lincoln (and others named), with the consent of the prior and convent of St Oswald, Nostell, to whom the church has been appropriated, as per 1) the mortmain licence of King Edward III, dated at Topcliffe (Toppeclyff), 10 July 1327, for the endowment of the chantry with lands in Carlton (Carleton) and 'Housfletwodhous'; 2) the grant, dated at Rothwell, 30 September 1329, made by John de Radeclyff [Radcliffe] to John de Alta Ripa [Hauterive; Dawtrey], chaplain at the altar, and his successors, of lands in Carlton (Carlton iuxta Rothewell) and 'Housfletwodhous' (details given); and 3) the letters patent of Brother John [de Lisle], prior of Nostell, granting his consent, dated at Nostell, 11 July 1329. |
| Note: |
The land at 'Housfletwodhous' has not been located, but is presumably a now-lost place called Ousefleet Woodhouse or similar, probably somewhere near Ousefleet.
