Entry No: 1
Entry Type:
Memorandum
Section Type:
Diverse letters
Summary: Apparently an extract from the Exchequer Memoranda Rolls relating to collection in the diocese of York, presumably of the papal tenth of March 1317. The Treasurer and barons of the Exchequer allow the archbishop £220 16s 8d outstanding on the collection (details of which are given) for devastation caused by the Scots. The entry is undated, but refers to a writ under the great seal dated at Westminster, 12 June 1318, but may have been created at some point in 1323, as the following entry dated at Westminster, 14 October 1323, is a royal writ containing an acquittance for the archbishop of the outstanding sum of £220 16s 8d.
