Summary: Notarial instrument, being one half of a chirograph, containing the penance to be imposed upon Brother Simon de Burton, canon of Bridlington Priory (details given).

Note: Document is undated, but may date from some point around May 1315, when Brother Simon was to be sent to Nostell Priory to do penance, details of which, in February 1316, were said to be contained in an indenture in the keeping of the prior and convent of Nostell, of which the present document may be the other half (see Reg 8, f. 160v, entries 2-3; Reg 5A, f. 132r, entry 5 and Reg 5A, f. 194v, entry 6). No place of dating recorded.
