Summary: Writ of Edward III ordering the archbishop to enquire into the legitimacy of the birth of William, son of John de Oscynton [Ossington], who has brought an assize of novel disseisin at Nottingham before Richard de Wylughby [Willoughby] and other royal justices against Robert de Sutton of Walesby and Margery his wife over property in Kirton (Kirketon iuxta Walesbi). Sutton has denied the assize, claiming that Oscyngton is illegitimate (insert).
