Note: The abbot would appear to be Robert Thornton, rather than his successor Robert Bishopton. Place of dating uncertain. Cheshunt in Hertfordshire seems likely, but the abbot was seemingly returning from the Cistercian general chapter at Citeaux (see CPR 1281-92, p. 319), held around 14 September, so it could be a place in France or the Low Countries. However, it seems unlikely that the abbot would deal with such business before returning to England.

He also complains that the king is demanding sums which he has paid, contrary to agreements made between the king and the abbot of Marmoutier. He requests the restoration of all goods taken while the house was in the king's hands. Note that the petition was granted.
