Summary:	The clergy of Carlisle and Richmond complain that they have been greatly impoverished by Scottish raids, and their benefices have been re-assessed for taxation purposes. They ask that they might pay the tenth recently granted to the king by the pope at this last assessment, because of their poverty, and also request a writ on this, as the clergy of the bishopric of Durham have received.

Summary:	The northern clergy seek remedy, as they are so impoverished by the Scottish war that they are unable to fulfil their roles. They are willing to pay the current tenth at the true value of their benefices, but the collectors are using the ancient assessment. They petitioned the king and council at Nottingham, and Sovereyn was ordered to stop levying the tenth until the present parliament.

Summary:	Pope Benedict ordered Archbishop Melton to reassess Louth Park for tenths and other charges, as they petitioned him complaining they were over-burdened. Melton has reassessed them at 106 marks 9s, and the king accepts this, and orders that they pay the present triennial tenth on this assessment, and that the Exchequer records be amended accordingly.
