| Summary: | Archbishop Melton requests remedy on various matters relating to his rights in Hull. Despaigne has taken various profits due to the archbishop. Certain men have unloaded wine outside Hull and carried it into the haven in small boats to avoid prisage, as an inquisition recorded that prisage was only due on ships carrying 20 tuns or more. Despaigne has purchased a writ of attachment against him to make him appear in his court of Kingston upon Hull. Response that he should sue a writ in Chancery against Despaigne; he should wait until the prisage matter is determined; and Despaigne should show his warrant. |

| Summary: | Writ of certiorari to Thorpe, seeking details of the case between the master of St Leonard's Hospital, York, and Peter Galeys, clerk, held before Bereford and his colleagues in 13 Edward II concerning a debt of 160 marks owed to Galeys, which has been summoned into Chancery. A transcript of the pleading is attached, held in Michaelmas term 13 Edward II, stating that Galeys sued the master for 160 marks, arrears of an annual rent of 40 marks, granted to him by Walter Reginald, the former master, on 5 March 1313, payable at Michaelmas in Bermondsey. He shows the grant deed, and an inspection and confirmation of the grant by the king. The master acknowledges the deed and debt, but says that Galeys brought the writ unjustly, as he was always ready to pay, and pays in court. Galeys cannot prove that the master refused, so amerced for false claim. At the quindene of Michaelmas 1320, Galeys and William de Byngham, for the master, appeared and Byngham paid Galeys the 40 marks for that Michaelmas. |

| Summary: | Writ summoning into Chancery all process on a case in Common Pleas between the abbot of St Mary's York and Belle. Copies of various entries from the plea roll attached, dated between Hilary term 1356 and Trinity term 1357. The abbot sought £25 arrears of rent from Belle, who did not come, and since Belle was a cleric, Archbishop Thoresby was ordered to have him in the court. Thoresby also did not reply, and thus he was to be attached, and then distrained. Thoresby was then distrained three times, but neither he nor Belle appeared. |

| Summary: | Writ to Charlton to send into Chancery all proceedings in the case in Common Pleas for which Bautre has surrendered himself to the Fleet Prison. Pleading notes that Dam, a York spicer, brought a plea against Bautre, former treasurer of Archbishop Neville, on a debt of £6 18s 1¾d in Easter term 1387. Bautre did not appear. On 12 February 1388, Bautre found sureties, but the sheriff then came and reported that he had been outlawed. On 21 April 1388, Bautre surrendered to the court and was committed to the Fleet. [Further process on the plea roll notes that Bautre appeared with a royal pardon and was dismissed.] |
