Summary:	Request for action against John de Whitby, who was deposed as prior of Watton by the general chapter and sent to Chicksands, but returned and forced out Howom, the new prior. Whitby was then removed by the prior of Malton, but he has sought support from the archbishop, who is now taking action against the prior.

Note:	On 3 March 1383, the sheriffs were ordered to arrest Whitby, an apostate canon, and deliver him to the master of the order of Sempringham (CPR 1381-5, p. 259). That may be the response to this petition. On 18 October 1389, orders were again issued to arrest Whitby, an apostate vagabond canon, and deliver him to the master (CPR 1388-92, p. 142).
