Summary: Mandate to Cave and Bevercote to deliver the temporalities of the archbishopric, with the exception of advowsons of churches and religious houses and collations belonging to the temporalities, to Melton, whom the pope has preferred to be archbishop, even though the king has not yet received the bull or Melton's fealty. Same to Walewayn, Lucy, Dryeby, Wodeham and Derby. Writ de intendendo to the tenants. Grant to Melton of all the king's corn in the granges of the archbishopric and sown in the lands, as a gift. Mandates on this to the same officials.

On his preferment as archbishop by the Pope, the king restored the temporalities of the bishopric to Melton, but reserved the advowsons until he had done fealty. Memo that Melton had not yet presented the bulls.

Note: Louth Park abbey had a grange at Hook, near Goole. Gilbert Pacok was actually the abbot of Louth Park, 1294-1308 and again 1320-1332. He had been excommunicated on 12 Feb. 1299 by Oliver Sutton, bishop of Lincoln (Smith, Heads of Religious Houses, ii, pp. 291-2).

Summary: Writ summoning into Chancery the indictment made before Umfraville and his fellow justices in Lindsey (Lincolnshire) against William Fox, Brother Thomas de Longesdon/Lungeston and Brother John Fox of Lea. Copy of indictment attached, taken at Caistor on 19 June 1350, which claimed that the defendants came to Broadholme on 15 January 1350 and abducted Margaret de Everyngham, a sister of that house, removing her religious robe and dressing her in a green secular robe, and also taking various goods worth 40s.
