| Summary: | Appropriation of the church of Great Mitton to the abbot and convent of Cockersand to offset the damage caused, as per their petition, to their convent walls by the regular flooding of their site, which lies between the Irish Sea and the marsh, and high winds, the costs for the upkeep and repair of which they can no longer support; the flooding of many of the pastures, granges and manors by the coast that they have been granted, which has rendered them sterile and unproductive; and the issues in continuing to provide hospitality as they ought by the rule of their order. Furthermore, their granges and other buildings at Cowperthwaite (Colpirthwait) [Westmorland], Hilderstone (Hildreston) [in Yealand Redmayne, Warton parish, Lancashire], Kellet, Ashton (Assheton) [Lancaster parish, Lancashire] and Ellel (Ellale), and the vill of Garstang (Gayrstang) have been burnt and destroyed by the invasions of the Scots, and they do not have the resources with which to repair them.
