| Summary: | Request by Saluzzo that the presentation made by Brabazon to the church of East Bridgford be cancelled, and the results of an inquest be brought before the king. Saluzzo, as parson of the royal free chapel of Tickhill, holds the churches pertaining to the chapel, but Brabazon presented one of his own clerks to East Bridgford after an inquest stated that he was the patron, to the king's disinheritance and Saluzzo's damage. |

| Summary: | Writ of certiorari ordering Stonor to return details of a suit between the king and Archbishop Zouche. Transcript attached, from Trinity term 1344, noting that the king sued Zouche for the right to present the subdean of York Minster, stating that Edward I did so during Archbishop Romayn's time, presenting Blyth, but that after Blyth's death, the temporalities of the archbishopric being in the king's hands after Melton's death, Zouche prevented this. Zouche claimed that Blyth did not die while the temporalities were in the king's hands. Jury summoned, case heard on a nisi prius before Basset and Laton at York on 18 December 1344, where the jury said that the office of subdean did fall vacant while the temporalities were in the king's hands after the death of Melton, as the king claimed. Order that the king recover the presentation, and a writ be sent to the archbishop to admit a suitable person as subdean at the king's presentation. By letters patent dated at Woodstock on 10 May 1349, the king presented John de la Chambre as subdean, and sent a writ to the justices, dated 14 May 1349, stating that John de Pirie, clerk, to whom he granted the office of subdean while the temporalities of the archbishopric were in his hands, has died, and thus, by virtue of the judgment, he has appointed Chambre, and asks that a writ be sent to Zouche ordering him to admit Chambre as subdean. |
