| Note: | An earlier pardon (CPR 1401-5, p. 187) explicitly dates the incident to 4 September, one week earlier, but the record of the plea shows that that date was miscalculated, presumably necessitating this further pardon. See also C 260/125/3, and KB 27/587, rex rot 3, detailing the legal process against Rilleston. The identification of the murder site as Catteral Hall near Giggleswick (EPNS West Riding of Yorkshire, vi, p. 145) seems unlikely, as it is a long way from Gisburn and Sawley, and not on any likely route between the two. |
