| Note: | The petitioner's first name is lost, but a John de Nottingham was confirmed to three ecclesiastical offices (one in Ripon) in 1392 (CPR 1391-6, p. 52), and is presumably the man later appointed as archdeacon of Nottingham (1397) and treasurer of York (1415). Vacancies in the archbishopric occurred in 1388, 1396-7, 1398 , and 1405-7, but his description as chaplain suggests the early part of his career. |
