Summary: Letters patent ordering the denunciation of the armed men who have disrupted the visitation to be conducted by Master William de Nassington, canon of Exeter, the archbishop's chancellor, and others, in the parts of the archdeaconry of Richmond within Lancashire, by seizing the dean of Amounderness and their messengers, and by attacking Lancaster priory and consuming the supplied provisions (details given). Master Laurence de Thornhill, professor of civil law, rector of Bedale, the abbot of Egglestone (Egleston), and John de Heselarton [Heslerton], rector of Patrick Brompton (Patrikbrumpton), are to publish the denunciation in the deaneries of Richmond, Catterick and Boroughbridge, and the dean of Craven and Master John de Bolton are to publish it in the deaneries of Craven, Lonsdale, Kendal and Amounderness, and to pin it to the doors of the churches of Lancaster, Tunstall and Garstang (four entries).
