Summary: The dean and chapter of York request clarification of their charters, as the king's ministers wrongfully enter their lands to make distraint. They request confirmation of Henry III's charter granting them and the archbishop the right to have a coroner in the city of York, and that none of their men or tenants be dealt with before the seneschal, marshal or clerk of the market unless their own bailiff has failed to do right. They also request licence for a pillory and tumbrel within York, to punish their tenants who breach the assizes of bread and ale.
