Summary: Archbishop Corbridge states that the king, in letters under the privy seal, has ordered him not to conduct a visitation in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and asks that this be repealed, as it is a purely spiritual matter. Response that the king cancels everything in those letters, on account of the incorrect command.

Summary: Certification [probably by the escheator, Richard de Havering] of this reasons for taking a third part of the wood and moor of Cawood into the king's hand. It had been claimed that the land was held in grand sergeanty by Cawode from the king, and that Archbishop Romeyn and his successors had appropriated it in mortmain without licence. Endorsement that the king and council agreed that the archbishop should have seisin of the land, and should do what ought to be done for the right of the king.

Summary: Bush complains that Caetani, his predecessor, refused to contribute to the clerical tenth imposed by the pope, for which the prebend and sacristry are still charged, but has refused to come into court and has begun to remove his goods from the realm. He requests that since Caetani still has sufficient goods in England, that they be detained until he answers the demand. Response that the archbishop of York is to be ordered to sequester Caetani's goods to the value of £18 3s. 4d., the value of the sums concerned, and to certify the chancellor.

Note: Date unclear, but Bush and Caetani disputed these offices between 1300 and 1304, with Bush then holding the prebend until 1311 and the sacristry far longer. Summary: Request by Saluzzo that the presentation made by Brabazon to the church of East Bridgford be cancelled, and the results of an inquest be brought before the king. Saluzzo, as parson of the royal free chapel of Tickhill, holds the churches pertaining to the chapel, but Brabazon presented one of his own clerks to East Bridgford after an inquest stated that he was the patron, to the king's disinheritance and Saluzzo's damage.

A summons to Saluzzo, dated to 1307 (CCR 1302-7, p. 524), also refers to petitions by the archbishop and Brabazon. Summary: The dean and chapter of York request clarification of their charters, as the king's ministers wrongfully enter their lands to make distraint. They also request confirmation as to where pleas involving them, the canons and their men may be held, as the city bailiffs interpret their charter to refer only to their villeins and not their other tenants. They request confirmation of Henry III's charter granting them and the archbishop the right to have a coroner in the city of York, and that none of their men or tenants be dealt with before the seneschal, marshal or clerk of the market unless their own bailiff has failed to do right. They also request licence for a pillory and tumbrel within York, to punish their tenants who breach the assizes of bread and ale.
