| Summary: | Certification of William de Cawode [Cawood], canon of Southwell, following receipt of a commission of the archbishop (recited), dated at the archbishop's manor of Bishopthorpe, 15 January 1400, to inquire into the vacancy and patronage of the chantry at the altar of St John the Evangelist in Ripon Minster, to which Henry Polles, priest, had been presented by the chapter of Ripon, the inquisition having found from inspection of the register of the Minster and letters of Archbishop Alexander Neville, that the chantry was vacant by the death of Richard Asmunderby [Aismunderby], the previous chaplain and that the chapter was patron (details given). |
