| Section Type: | Archdeaconry of York |
| Summary: | Appropriation of the church of Easington (Esington) to the abbot and convent of Meaux (Melsa), to aid their financial problems caused partly because flooding has greatly reduced the value of their lands of Salthaugh (Salthagh), Tharlesthorpe, Frismarsh (Frismersk), Withfleet (Wytheflete), Dimlington (Dimelton) and Ravenser Odd (Ravenserodde) in Holderness, and because their manor of Myton and town of Kingston upon Hull were taken into the hands of Edward I, as compensation for which they were granted the advowsons of Skipsea (Skypse), Easington and Keyingham (Kayingham) (details given). The archbishop reserves to himself the ordination of a vicar for the church, and grants full possession to Meaux only after the resignation or death of Hugh de Glaumvile [Glanville], the present rector. Compiled by John de Aldefeld, clerk, notary public (witnesses named). |
| Marginalia: | A marginal note on f.15r states that this appropriation should be in the section for the archdeaconry of the East Riding. On f. 15v a marginal note in a later hand draws attention to a pension of 66s. 8d. to be paid to the archbishops of York by Easington. |
