Summary: Last will and testament of William de Leven, former rector of Lockington (Lokyngton). He requests burial in the chancel of the church before the image of the Virgin; among various bequests for lights, masses and alms and to his poor parishioners and members of his household (details given) are those to the nuns of Watton of 100s., Swine (Swyne) of 60s., of Wilberfoss, Thicket (Thikheved), Nunkeeling (Killyng), Nunburnholme (Brunn) and of Wallingwells (Wellandwells) of 12d., to the fabric of St John of Beverley (5 marks), to the chapel of the Blessed Mary of Beverley (20s.) and to the fabric of York Minster (40s.), to William de Ake (20 marks), to his nephew John de Waghen [Wawne] (20 marks), to William called Tailor of Leven (10 marks), and of the crops of all his demesne lands of the manor of Lockington to Margaret de Mauley, excepting the tithes thereof, and two messuages outside the bar of Beverley. Further provision is made for William Abell to enter into and retain his inheritance upon certain conditions. The executors are named as William de Ake [Aike] and John de Seuwardby [Sewerby], with Master Robert de Beverley and Thomas Frost as supervisors. Dated at Lockington.
