| Summary: | Extract from a court roll containing a record of a court held at Skidby (Skytteby) before the steward and bailiff (jurors named) concerning the tenure of Peter Forestarius (the forester) to lands (details given) of the inheritance of Isabella, daughter of John Fabr' (the smith), formerly wife of Peter. Peter holds the lands, but no fine was made to the lord, as should have been, since, when the property descended to Isabella, daughter of John son of Matilda, she rendered the property into the hands of the lord, to the use of Isabella and her heirs. Peter stated in court that he did not wish to make a fine for the property, which descended to him by the death of Isabella, his wife, or to hold it as tenant. Peter is to hold the property, as in the hands of the lord, in order to sustain Alice, daughter and heiress of Isabella, and should account to the lord for the profits (insert). |
