Summary: Letter to the prioress and convent of Thicket, stating that the archbishop was sending their fellow nun Joan de Brakenholme back to them, absolved from her apostasy for repeatedly leaving the house, putting aside her habit, and other unstated misdemeanours. For these sins, the archbishop imposed numerous penalties, including not speaking to anyone, including her sister nuns, except with the permission of the prioress; she was not to leave the cloister or church, but was to be enclosed in a secure place nearby, so that she could attend services; she was not to send or receive any letters; her meals were to be restricted (details given), and she was to receive discipline each day from the prioress and each of the nuns in chapter, receiving the final place and leaving as soon as she had received her punishment. The prioress was to appoint two nuns as guardians, to oversee her punishment. Similar letters were sent from Cawood on 1 February 1344 to the prioress and convent of Sinningthwaite regarding Margaret de Fenton, who had also left her house, except that she was not to be enclosed, but was not to leave the cloister or church.
