| Section Type: | Archdeaconry of York |
| Summary: | Commission to Master Simon de Bekyngham [Beckingham], chancellor of York, Master William de Feriby [Ferriby], archdeacon of Cleveland, and Master John de Helwell, canon of York, pursuant to a bull of Pope Urban V (recited), to act in a delegated cause relating to the fruits, rents and issues of the church of Torpenhow (Thorpemow), Carlisle diocese. A petition had been made by Stephen de ? Broughton, perpetual vicar of the same church, that Ralph [Ireton], bishop of Carlisle, at the instance of Isabella Walone, prioress, and the convent of Rosedale (Russedale), who had made illicit agreements with William de Pikeryng [Pickering], then the rector, made an appropriation of that church, and after his death the prioress and convent occupied these issues, to the prejudice of Stephen and the endowment of his vicarage. |
