| Summary: | Proceedings in the archbishop's visitation of the dean and chapter of York: before opening the visitation proceedings, the archbishop attended a service in York Minster, presumably Matins; details given include the hymn 'Come, Holy Ghost' (named in English), his sermon taken from Matthew 21, 12-13, beginning 'And Jhesus wente into the temple' and ending 'My hous in the house of praier and yee have made it a denne of theves' (both excerpts in English) and the first part of Psalm 69. The Litany (litania) is also mentioned, but this may refer to the versicles and responses that normally follow the Creed or simply prayers. |
